What to Expect
Hibernacle is a fresh, intimate festival celebrating music, art, and community in the magical, history-rich grounds of Orlagh House — a place that feels as welcoming as your favourite local, where music flows as easily as the pints. Curated by music lovers for music lovers, the festival centres around one main outdoor stage, while hidden gems and secret sessions wait to be discovered throughout the estate's serene surroundings. From soul-stirring ballads to high-energy sets, Hibernacle blends emerging and established artists in collaborative, immersive performances that spark real connection. It’s all wrapped in a cosy, close-knit atmosphere that feels more like a gathering than a festival — and when the sun sets, the magic keeps going with live sets in the main hall, trad sessions by the fire, and DJs spinning deep into the night.
Artist Line-Up
Since forming in 2016, Pillow Queens have become one of Ireland’s most vital bands, blending queerness, Irish identity, and raw emotion in their acclaimed alt-rock. Their third album, Name Your Sorrow (2024), produced by Collin Pastore, deepens their sound while showcasing their ever-evolving artistry. Known for powerful live shows, their music draws comparisons to everyone from Lana Del Rey to Vampire Weekend.
Beloved for her haunting voice and lyrical depth, Lisa Hannigan has been a vital force in Irish music since her acclaimed debut Sea Sew (2008). With follow-up albums Passenger and At Swim, she continues to evolve as a songwriter and performer. Her celebrated collaboration with the contemporary-classical orchestra s t a r g a z e led to the 2019 Live in Dublin album, and in 2024, she held a New York residency with the Irish Arts Centre. Lisa has recently been enjoying solo shows around Ireland while also writing her next album.
Ye Vagabonds, the acclaimed Irish folk duo of brothers Brían and Diarmuid Mac Gloinn, have captivated audiences with their rich harmonies and emotive storytelling. Fusing traditional Irish with Appalachian and folk revival influences, they’ve earned multiple RTÉ and BBC Folk Awards. Their 2023 album Nine Waves highlights their instrumental prowess and growing impact on the Irish folk scene.
Wallis Bird, a powerhouse performer with over 1,000 shows worldwide, has won multiple awards, including two Irish Meteor Awards and is known for her raw energy and fearless songwriting. Her latest album, Hands (2022), is deeply personal, tackling identity and trust with a genre-defying sound. Wallis remains one of Europe’s most exciting live acts, from solo tours to orchestral collaborations.
Songwriter, producer, and sonic innovator Richie Egan is best known as the creative force behind Irish electronic folk band Jape. Also the bassist with TRM (formerly The Redneck Manifesto), Egan explores experimental soundscapes through his solo project Rarn Studio, blending synthesis, sampling, and songwriting into a richly textured creative practice.
Ailbhe Reddy’s tender alt-folk weaves personal stories into universal emotional truths. Her Choice Music Prize–nominated debut Personal History and acclaimed follow-up Endless Affair (2023) showcase her lyrical honesty and captivating voice, earning praise from Pitchfork, Clash, and Line of Best Fit.
With a voice likened to Tracy Chapman and Dolores Keane and songwriting rich in emotional honesty, Gráinne Hunt stands out in contemporary folk. Her Nashville-recorded album This Secret (2019) earned critical acclaim, and she’s shared stages with U2 and Gladys Knight. A seasoned performer, she tours internationally and collaborates on folk projects like Hibsen.
Áine Tyrrell is a fearless songwriter and live performer whose music blends folk roots with global storytelling. With standout appearances at top festivals worldwide, Áine’s work has earned praise from The Australian, ABC, and RTÉ. A vocal advocate and artistic trailblazer, her dynamic online following mirrors her deep connection with audiences.
